Vélo Vino Vici: What to expect

Whom is this event for?

  • Vélo Vino Vici is a women-only event. The event is organized by women, for women. This ride celebrates the significant role the bicycle has played in women’s empowerment and independence.
  • We welcome women to bike or walk the event. The distance between stops is short, so it’s an easy bike ride and a manageable walk.
  • If you’re not a woman but still want to be involved, sign up to volunteer to help with the event.

Getting to the start

  • This is a bike ride, so ride your bike (or walk!) to the start at Walt’s Bike Shop!
  • If you do need to drive to the start, you can park in the parking lot at Walt’s.

Bring your photo ID!

  • We will ask for each person’s ID when you check in to verify that everybody is over 21, so bring your photo identification.

Stay safe

  • To stay safe and legal, we recommend having a white front light and a red rear light. If you don’t have lights, you can pick them up from any of the local bike shops.
  • We will provide snacks during the ride, but we encourage you to eat before you arrive.
  • Please be sure you know what the traffic laws and rules of the road are while you’re on a bike. We will expect everyone to abide by them to stay safe and legal.
  • Bring a bike lock. Not all locations will have bike racks but please use them when possible. Please don’t block sidewalks when parking your bike.

Stops and samples

  • We will give you a set of tickets, a map, and list of the stops. When you arrive at the stop, you will trade in your ticket for a wine sample.
  • We will travel in groups from one stop to the next, and will let you know when it’s time to move to the next stop.
Woman on bike

  • If you pre-ordered a t-shirt, we will have it ready for you to pick up when you check-in for the event.
  • If you didn’t pre-order but are interested in buying a shirt, we will have some available to buy on-site at Walt’s.

SAG support

  • If you have any difficulty with your bike while you’re out on the ride, call 573.999.9894. Walt’s Bike Shop is graciously providing SAG support for the ride, and will have a mechanic along the ride to help you out.

Be sure to check out with us at the end of the ride!

  • We will have a check-out table at the finish. Please be sure to stop at the table so we know you’ve finished the ride. If we don’t check you off our list we will desperately call you and try to track you down to be sure you’re safe. : )
