Former Mayor and staunch trail advocate honored with community bike ride
Former Mayor Darwin Hindman spent most of his life working to make it safe and easy for people to get around by bike. And it worked. Columbia and Missouri are better places for biking because of Darwin.
PedNet Coalition will honor Darwin’s legacy by leading a community bike ride to his memorial service on Saturday, June 22. The planned route from Stephens Lake Park to Calvary Episcopal Church is about one mile and all are welcome to join.
- 11:45am-12pm: Gather at the Darwin & Axie Hindman Discovery Garden at Stephens Lake Park (2300 E. Walnut St.)
- Ride together to the memorial service
- 1pm: Memorial service at Calvary Episcopal Church (123 S. Ninth St.)
PedNet asks that as many people as possible bike to the start of the event at Stephens Lake Park. Those who will be driving to the start should park in the parking lot off Old 63 and meet at the garden. There is a wedding scheduled at Riechmann Pavilion, so please don’t park in the Riechmann parking lot.
