Walk to School Days are organized events in which children from all over Columbia get together with their friends, parents and teachers to walk to school. Each participating school arranges a designated meeting location about a mile away from school where everyone gathers and then walks to school together. When the children arrive at school there is a light breakfast snack waiting for them as well as participation prizes.
The purpose of Walk to School Days are to encourage children and adults to incorporate more walking into their daily routine. They also highlight the need for communities to be more walkable with better infrastructure and safer routes to school for children.

International Walk to School Month
October is International Walk to School Month. October 6, 2010 is International Walk to School Day and several Columbia public and private schools will take part. Watch for information coming home from your child’s school.
