Cherry Hill Market & Café

Cherry Hill Market and CafeThe Village of Cherry Hill was designed to be a pedestrian friendly community, and one thing every community needs is a close grocery store that can fulfill that last minute need for a cup of sugar or the morning milk. Cherry Hill Market & Café is doing just that, and then some.

The store, located on the square of Cherry Hill at the corner of Chapel Hill and Scott, was opened on May 6 by Roy and Kate Finley. “Roy and I decided to start Cherry Hill Market & Café because we recognized the need for a community spot in the Village of Cherry Hill, both for neighbors and the businesses. The Cherry Hill community has been grateful to have the market here, and now we want to spread the word that we are open and ready to welcome the surrounding areas,” said Kate.

The market and café serves breakfast and lunch, emphasizing local foods, and has a well stocked small grocery store, with a slant on locally produced foods and healthy choices. You can find everything from fresh baked goods, to batteries, to bags of rice here, and even grab a hot coffee on your way out.

“Our theme is ‘simple, fresh and local’,” said Kate, and that applies to the café and the market. “We use as much locally produced food as possible. Everything from meats, cheeses, eggs, chocolate, bread, coffee, mustard, salad dressing, pasta sauce, snacks, etc.”

Ginny Chadwick, former executive director of Columbia Locally Owned Retail & Services, has taken the role of manager and she has put together a staff that includes two full-time and six part-time employees, all ready to make you a delicious breakfast Frittatta or help you choose a good locally made cheese.

The café is open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the market is open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Find out more about the Cherry Hill Market & Café by visiting their website at www.cherryhillmarketcafe.com. They are specifically located at 4200 Merchant Street, Suite 101, across from the Cherry Hill town square. Kate encourages people to sign up for their emails as there are discounts and coupons available at times.
