PedNet Leaders Named 'Friends of Missouri Bicycling'
Yesterday, in the State Capitol in Jefferson City, PedNet Executive Director Ian Thomas and PedNet Education Coordinator received awards from the Missouri Bicycle Federation. Other award recipients included Trailnet founder and GetAbout Columbia program manager Ted Curtis and, with a "Lifetime Achievement Award," Ted and Pat Jones whose vision, hard work, and financial support were instrumental in the creation of the Katy Trail.
Dear Mr. Thomas,
On behalf of the membership and Board of Directors of the Missouri
Bicycle Federation, I am pleased to notify you that you are being
recognized as a 2009 Friend of Missouri Bicycling. These awards are
given annually to elected leaders, government employees, private
citizens, and others who have done exceptional work to make Missouri
a more bicycle- and pedestrian-friendly state.
This year we would like to recognize your leadership in co-founding and directing the PedNet Coalition, building PedNet into an effective community advocacy organization, developing and running active living programs in Columbia, developing a nationally recognized Safe Routes to School program in Colubmia, developing Columbia's street standards--the first municipal-level Complete Streets policy in Missouri--and playing a key role in development of the GetAbout Columbia project.
Sincerely,
Brent Hugh
Executive Director, Missouri Bicycle Federation
