CYCLE-RECYCLE
Date of Event: 7 May, 2006
Location of Event: Columbia/Boone County Health Department (West Blvd. & Worley)
Do you have a spare bicycle in your garage or basement?
If you do, please consider donating it to PedNet so we can fix it up and give it away to a family that needs it. Email pednet@pednet.org.
Since 2002, more than 500 second-hand bikes have been given to members of the Columbia community. Many of these bikes are now being used to get to work, to get to school, to go shopping, to go to the doctor, or to visit friends.
Five good reasons to donate a second-hand bike:
- Someone gets the gift of a bike
- There's one more cyclist on the roads of Columbia
- You make some space in your garage
- You receive a certificate for a tax deduction
- An unused resource gets put to use
PedNet's partners in Cycle-Recycle:
- The Intersection - promote availability of bikes
- Lindsey Rentals - storage and transportation of bikes
- Columbia Bike Club and Columbia Multisport Club - fixing up the bikes
- Walt's Bike Shop, CyclExtreme, and Tryathletics - fixing up the bikes
- Missouri Department of Corrections - trading roadworthy bikes for ones that need fixing
- Columbia/Boone County Health Department - hosting Cycle-Recycle event
- Mayor Darwin Hindman - officiating at the event
- SAFEKIDS Coalition - donation of free bike helmets
- Columbia Police Department - lead community bike ride
