What is Bike, Walk, and Wheel Week?
The Mayor's Challenge: Bike, Walk, and Wheel Week started in 2002, when Mayor Darwin Hindman challenged Columbia residents to use active travel to get around town for one week in May. In five years, BWWW has grown into a popular annual event with 2,500 participants. The Sixth Annual BWWW will be held May 12-19, 2007.
There are individual events every day of the week, including "Breakfast Stations Morning," when about a dozen sponsored stations around town offer a free breakfast to anyone commuting by foot, bike, or wheelchair. In addition, there are opening and closing events, organized walks and bike rides, and other events organized by partner organizations.
