SCHEDULE OF EVENTS FOR BIKE, WALK, AND WHEEL WEEK, 2008: Saturday, May 3, 12:30pm at Forum Trailhead: BWWW Kick-Off Family Ride Meet at the Forum Trailhead and ride the MKT Trail 3 miles to Flat Branch Park for the Kick-Off Celebration.Saturday, May 3, 1:00-4:00pm at Flat Branch Park, downtown: BWWW Kick-Off Celebration Register for BWWW, pick up your free t-shirt, and enter the drawing for great prizes. Attractions include a welcome from Mayor Darwin Hindman and Honorary Chairs Patty and Richard King, dedication of the new Chamber of Commerce footbridge by city officials, live music from Ironweed Bluegrass Band, and the Celebrity Bike-Car Challenge. For kids, it's Float Your Boat - make a boat from twigs, leaves, and grasses, and float it down Flat Branch Creek. Saturday, May 3, 10:00am-8:00pm at The YouZeum, downtown: Discount at The YouZeum Wear your 2008 BWWW t-shirt and get $1 off the entry fee to Columbia's new interactive health museum. Sunday, May 4, 1:00-3:00pm at Columbia Boone County Health Dept., 1005 W. Worley: Cycle-Recycle Register at 12:30pm to receive a free, refurbished bicycle; giveaway begins at 2pm. Free bike licensing is available, courtesy of Columbia Fire Dept. Contact Robert Johnson, 442-7189x28, for details.Sunday, May 4, 10:00am-5:00pm on the Katy Trail in Rocheport: Trail to a Cure Bike Ride/Walk/Run Registration will start at 10am, with walking, biking, and running events starting at staggered times. Monday, May 5, 6:30-8:00pm at the GetAbout Columbia office, 101 N. 7th St., downtown: Bicycle Maintenance and Commuting Tips Want to be a better commuter? Learn the art of basic bicycle maintenance and how to choose the best route, clothing, and gear. Monday, May 5, 6:30-8:30pm at the Empire Roller Rink, 1305 Business Loop 70 East: Skate Party Get $1 off the entry fee by wearing your 2008 BWWW t-shirt. Call 443-7375 for more information. Tuesday, May 6, 5:30-7:30pm at the ARC: Spring Health & Fitness Expo See all the latest gear and get up to date on health and fitness issues. The Mayor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Health awards follow the Fitness Expo. Wednesday, May 7, 4:00-7:00pm at the GetAbout Columbia office, 101 N. 7th St., downtown:GetAbout Columbia Open House Check out the plans for Columbia's new bike/ped infrastructure and sign up for one of the educational programs. Wednesday, May 7, 6:30-8:00pm at Tryathletics, 1605 Chapel Hill Rd.: Women's Bike Repair and Maintenance Class This class is free. Contact Janet Godon, 823-5503, for details. Thursday, May 8, all day throughout Columbia: Columbia Try Transit Day Everybody rides free on the buses all day long. Give it a try. Call 874-7282 for schedule information. Thursday, May 8, 6:00-8:00pm at Grill One 5, 15 S. 6th St., downtown: PedNet Scavenger Hunt Have fun the active way!
