PATTY AND RICHARD KING: BIKE, WALK, AND WHEEL WEEK HONORARY CHAIRS
Richard, who has lived in Columbia since 1975, runs half-marathons and pounds the sidewalks of downtown Columbia every Monday morning while maintaining the kiosks advertising events at his own Blue Note and Mojo's, and other venues. Patty is into sports - her own and those played by their two sons, Patrick, 11 and Nick, 8. Follow Richard and Patty's lead this year and sign up now for the Seventh Annual Mayor's Challenge: Bike, Walk, and Wheel Week (May 3-10). Mark your calendar for the Opening Celebration in Flat Branch Park on Saturday, May 3, and Breakfast Stations Day on Friday, May 9. Bike, Walk, and Wheel Week is an easy and fun way to show your support for Active Living, and to help make Columbia a safer and pleasanter place to get around on foot, by bike, in a wheelchair, or with other active modes. Walking, running, and bicycling have always been important to Richard, both personally and professionally. Two current projects he is deeply involved with are the Annual 9th St. Summerfest and the Roots 'n Blues 'n BBQ Festival - both are highly oriented towards pedestrians and cyclists.
