To participate in the Mayor's Challenge: Bike, Walk, and Wheel Week, you simply need to build some physical activity into your journeys during the week of May 7-14. In addition, there is a full schedule of special events you may attend. In particular, breakfast stations will be open around town on the morning of Friday May 13th.

Friday, May 6, lunchtime Special Warm-Up Event Downtown Columbia: Bike-Car Challenge ... Watch our celebrity contestants (KMIZ's Michelle Lynn vs. Mayor Hindman and several other match-ups) go head-to-head to complete a series of downtown errands - one in a car and one on a bike.

Saturday, May 7, 2:00 p.m. At Flat Branch Park (downtown Columbia): Kick-Off Event and MKT Trail Walk/Bike Ride ... Honorary chair David Lile and Mayor Darwin Hindman will officially open the event. Register for Bike, Walk, and Wheel Week and pick up your free T-shirt. Take part in a group walk or bike ride on the MKT Trail

Sunday, May 8, 2:00 p.m. At The Intersection (Garth and Sexton): Cycle-Recycle ... To register for a free, second-hand bike: visit the Intersection between 3:00-6:00 p.m. on May 2-6. To donate a second-hand bike: email pednet@pednet.org. Take part in a 2-mile community bike ride at 3:00 p.m.

Monday, May 9, 6:00 p.m. At The Empire Roller Rink (Business Loop 70): Skate Party ... Wear your 2005 Bike, Walk, and Wheel Week t-shirt and receive $1 off admission. Prizes.

Tuesday, May 10, 5:30 p.m. At the ARC (Clinkscales and Ash): Mayor's Council on Physical Fitness and Health Fitness Forum ... Mayor Hindman will present Fitness and Health awards to local citizens. Guest speaker.

Wednesday, May 11, Noon At the Pasta Factory (downtown): Women's Intersport Network Luncheon (reservations required)

Thursday, May 12, 5:30 p.m. At Grill One-5 (downtown): PedNet's Scavenger Hunt ... Form a team of up to 5 and bike, walk, and wheel around downtown and MU campus solving clues and collecting treasure. $10/team entry fee. Prizes.

Friday, May 13, 7:00 - 9:00 a.m. At locations throughout Columbia: (see map) Bike, Walk & Wheel Breakfast Stations Day ... Drop in at one (or more) of many breakfast stations in and around downtown as you bike, walk or wheel to your destinations. KPLA will be broadcasting live from Boone Tavern, where the breakfast station will be open at 6:30 am.

Saturday, May 14, 8:00 a.m. At Boone County Fairgrounds (south entrance): Columbia Bike Club Poker Ride ... 25-mile bike ride (register at 8 a.m., ride starts at 10 a.m., $20 entry fee)

Saturday, May 14, 2:00 p.m. At Flat Branch Park (downtown): Final Event Rally ... Join us in closing Bike, Walk & Wheel Week. Great prizes, but you MUST be present to win.

May 7 - 14 (all week) "Your Bike is Your Ticket!" ... Anyone utilizing bike racks on Columbia Transit buses (space available only, you cannot take your bike on the bus) rides for free to any destination on the city bus routes.
