At a "bike, Walk, and Wheel: It's a Way of life in Columbia" partnership meeting, Active Ling awards were presented to members of the partnership who have made substantial contributions towards making Columbia an active and activity-friendly community.Lynn Hostetler of Boone Hospital (standing, second from right) was the Active Living Person of the Year for facilitating consistent corporate support for Active Living projects in Columbia. Just within the last year, Boone Hospital has sponsored the Passport to Fitness program, the Kids on Track marathon, and Mark Fenton's Walkable Communities Workshop.
Special recognition awards were given to Mayor's Council on Physical Fitness and Health chair, Becky Beach (squatting, center); Ridgeway Elementary Walking School Bus leader Dana Fritz (standing, second from left); West Boulevard Elementary PE teacher Amy Lewis (standing, left); Russell Boulevard Elementary Walking School Bus leader Gina Overshiner (squatting, left, with children Annarose and Max); and City of Columbia Public Works Engineer Richard Stone (standing, right).
