Magazine articles all offer the same advice on how to beat stress. They say to…
“relax and take a few deep breaths.”
“think of a calm place and breathe deeply”
“breathe deep while you count to 10.”
This really is great advice because with each deep breath:
- Cells are replenished with oxygen,
- Your lymphatic system gets revved up,
- Endorphins are released into your body and
- Your lung capacity increases.
One great way to incorporate lots of deep breathing in your daily life is to engage in an active lifestyle.
- Take a brisk walk to the post office.
- Ride a bike to the library.
- Run with your dog to the dog park.
- Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
- Push your child in a stroller to the grocery store.
- Walk on the MKT trail to The District.
The stress will melt away and your body will benefit from lots of fresh oxygen.
