Public Transportation: Benefits of the Bus

Public Transportation Helps Active Transportation

I want to be an active commuter, but…

  • I don’t feel safe riding on Clark Lane
  • It is supposed to rain today
  • I overslept

Cyclist with bike on the Columbia City bus bike rackWe all know the reasons active commuting can be difficult. That’s what’s so great about public transportation!  The city bus can help you make your active commute a reality no matter what the situation is.

Location, location, location.
There are just some areas of the city that are hard to get to when walking or riding a bike. Maybe part of the road is unsafe or the distance is too far.   Chances are there is a bus stop  that is close to your destination.
Bike racks
Bike racks attached to the front of every city bus allow you to put your bike on the bus and catch a ride where you need to go.
Weather
There is a storm predicted in the afternoon, but that doesn’t mean you have to give up your morning ride or walk. Just plan on catching the bus home at the end of the day. And if the weather changes, great!  You just got an extra cardio workout during the commute home.
Running late?
Maybe you don’t have time for the walk or ride in the morning. The bus still gives you a chance to get some active commuting in at the end of the day.
